The Pop Aesthetic: Hey! Listen! -Hello My Name Is Mochipet

Mochipet makes damn good beats. He’s been doing it for a while, too. The Japan-born California-based producer has been putting out breakcore gems for years. His newest original album, Chicxulub, is out next week, and in preparation, 1320 Records has put out a free compilation of Mochipet’s previous works.

Born in Taiwan R.O.C. to Rocket Scientist father and Kindergarten Teacher mother, David Wang (a.k.a. Mochipet) has been tinkering with electronics since he was a child. EXCLUSIVE MOCHIPET INTERVIEW @ City Full OF Neon Lights

Man I really really love blogging… I wish that I could really turn my attention back to ISoA but for now? This blog has taken on a life of it’s own. Even if I don’t post tracks from all the promos I’m getting I end up with enough interviews to keep this thing interesting…

ON THAT NOTE… this interview turned out to be one of the most interesting ones I’ve read in a while. I always liked Mochipet but now I respect him as well.

Less Than 3| Prehistoric Drops!

Thud.. thud.. thud.. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMP!!!! If Jurassic Park were anything like Mochipet envisioned, that famous scene with the T-Rex might have sounded a lot like this. Recently, Mochipet released a new single off of his upcoming album Rawr Means I Love You. The single, Whomp-A-Saurus Sex. From about fourteen seconds in, Mochipet does what he can to let you know he isn’t joking around with this one. This is one of those tracks where the name is eerily onomatopoeic. When you listen to it, you may get the impression that you’re in a mechanized Jurassic Park, running from T-Sex.. er.. Rex, himself.

J’aime Le Dubsteb #114- SF Series: Mochipet

Well, well, what a surprise we’ve got here! Our fourth mix in our San Francisco Series, and our JLD mix #114 coming in from the biggest purple dinosaur since Barney & Friends, MOCHIPET !!!! If your unfamiliar with the name, then we’re gonna change that.

I’ve been a fan of Mochipet ever since his 2007 release Girls <3 Breakcore, wither or not this is true is irelevant, because I like girls who love Breakcore. In fact Mochipet has been releasing music since 2002 in all sorts of styles but mainly remaining in the IDM 8bit esthetics going up to Breakcore. From what I can tell he made his move into the world of Glitch Hop, very succesfully I may add, in 2008/09. His album Master P On Atari is a great listen and I recommend it (Girls <3 Breakcore too, if your into the harder and faster riddims). So it goes without saying that I’m more then proud to release this wicked mix by Mochipet, the San Fancisco Purple Dragon Dinosaur.

Q&A with Mochipet- 507PROJEX Interview

We were slated to interview everyone’s favorite breakcore Dinosaur, Mochipet (David Wang), last month when he returned to the Loft above Barfly. However, due to a wealth of travel industry failures, David arrived late to Minneapolis with just enough time to throw down his raucous set. Being as rad or radder than 1980s skateboarding, Mochipet agreed to conduct our Q&A, including two fan questions generated on our Facebook page, via email.

Mochipet’s Interview for The Lenar Blog!

I discovered Mochipet when several friends starting posting links to his music. He takes on bass music and twists into his on glitchy, wobble, RAWR type beats.

He is known as the man who performs in a cute dino costume. He has played shows all over the world and his music is widely known in the bass music community. He often gives out free tunes to his Pet Nation! Keep your eyes and ears peeled on this little dino for he will be sure to make you want to rock out.

Mochipet’s Ohh! So Famous Interview

Mochipet is a Glitch-hop producer out of the San Francisco Bay area. When he released his first album, he took time to personally mail it to anyone and everyone who requested it. Since then, he’s gained an outpour of support and toured with everyone from Big Boi to Rusko. We recently sat down with David and asked him a few questions. Read about how Mochipet considers himself a ricecake and works on music naked ?!! WTF?
