Mochipet makes damn good beats. He’s been doing it for a while, too. The Japan-born California-based producer has been putting out breakcore gems for years. Mochipet’s latest release on 1320 Records ‘Chicxulub’, is the soundtrack for an animated novel in which the Dinosaurs make their way through the impact of the comet believed to have destroyed them. The album starts off with a highly compressed glitch-hop bass number ‘Dinosaur Anthems’ signaling the dark that is arriving along to where ‘Yoshi’s Dinosaur Egg Hunt’ guides you through Fraggle Rawk-style landscapes in search of the young that are left to live on. The Dinosaurs eventually leave the planet, taking off in their ‘Pterodactyl Spaceship’ to new undiscovered lands. But they do not make it out easily; there are a number of alien life forms that have invaded in ‘The Battle of Dinotropolis’ (Featuring Ben Samples). With everything destroyed all that is left are ‘Fossils’ and our prehistoric creatures are left to find ‘A Home Away From Home.’ So ‘Ghost Ride The Ark’ to Outer Space we go! Whether our Dino friends make it to their new homes is unsure as ‘I Really Don’t Think We Are Ok ACE.’ The Saga is To Be Continued…

Novation and Serato recently sent Mochipet the new not yet released
Twitch Controller which runs with Serato’s itch software as well as
Ableton Live. Mochi is practicing his chops on this new machine
currently so look for a performance and tutorial video soon. This new
controller pushes the limits of Djing with Hot Cues, Slicer, Auto Loop
and Loop Roll performance modes interact seamlessly with ITCH, letting
you mash up your tracks and mix them back together, totally on the
fly. Combined with the Touchstrips, FX and Serato ITCH you have
complete freedom to manipulate your tracks and create unique live
performances.

Citrine Management Group LLC will host the 1st Annual Dub Fillmore Festival, a music, arts and cultural event in the heart of San Francisco’s Fillmore District in an effort to maintain the vibrancy of the neighborhood and pay homage to the growing dub community throughout the city.
The festival will take place on Saturday, August 6th from 10a-6:30p at Fillmore and O’farrell Street at the Gene Suttle and Fillmore Center Plaza. This event is all ages, open to the public at no charge, there will be two stages featuring djs, live performances and over 50 local vendors who will be displaying art and goods during the festival.

After 10 days of being unnamed, Mochipet’s latest creation which consists of 18 synths, 6 arpeggiators, 4 kick drums, 3 snares and 4 different kinds of reverb can finally be called “Dionysus’s Synthony” Mochipet put out the word that he needed help naming this track and offered up a prize copy of his remix of Kraddy’s Android (Godzilla) Porn on Vinyl. Congratulations to Reid Pomerich for coming up with the winning title!

Born in Taiwan R.O.C. to Rocket Scientist father and Kindergarten Teacher mother, David Wang (a.k.a. Mochipet) has been tinkering with electronics since he was a child. However, not until he added music to the equation, did something special begin to take shape. Having grown up listening to metal guitar, avant-garde jazz, and mainstream hip-hop, David’s eclectic taste can now be seen in his music – ever changing, and always evolving.
