Mochipet Remixes Oakland’s Hottub into heavy bass and twerky synths in the name of the now decessed Energy Death drink Four Loko!

WASHINGTON — The manufacturer of popular caffeinated alcohol drink Four Loko said Tuesday it will remove the caffeine from its products, pulling the blend off the market just as the Food and Drug Administration is poised to ban it. Phusion Projects said in a statement posted on its website that the company will remove caffeine and two other ingredients from its products going forward. The announcement came as the FDA is expected to find as early as Wednesday that caffeine is an unsafe food additive to alcoholic drinks. That finding essentially would ban Four Loko and other drinks like it. The FDA ruling “should be the nail in the coffin of these dangerous and toxic drinks,” Sen. Chuck Schumer, who has pushed the Obama administration to ban the beverages, said Tuesday. Federal regulators would not confirm Schumer’s announcement that a ban was imminent, but Four Loko’s statement suggests the company believed it had little choice but to reformulate its drinks.

Eazy E was the first to admit that he wasn’t exactly a role model. Yet that didn’t stop millions of teenagers kids all across the world looking up to the alter-ego of business brain Eric Wright and agreeing that this was indeed one gangsta muthafucka worthy of respect. Many hardcore Hip-hoppers have since cursed the day that guns, bitches and bling became one of the cornerstones of the movement, but secretly they were never directing their ill feelings towards originators such as Eazy E. Without him Ice Cube would probably still be ripping off the Beastie Boys, Dr Dre might still be wearing make-up and both Yella and MC Ren would have disappeared without trace (okay so that happened anyway but you get the drift). He carried an arsenal of guns bigger than he was, had money coming out of every orifice and pussy falling out of his pockets but still managed to donate millions to charities, and regularly took orphans on field trips. Sadly, in a cruel twist of irony, his passion for ‘pussy’ caught up with him and in 1995 he died of AIDS, leaving a bullet sized hole in the Hip-hop world, and spreading fear across anyone in LA who had neglected to use a condom recently.

“That’s very fucking rude!” Rob Da Bank (BBC Radio 1)

This EP is the latest in our Fre-Release series that started with a previous DJ 0.000001 track and has since included Stagga, zwolf and Th’ Mole. Look out for plenty more lined up over the rest of the year.

Godzilla New Year is the second single off of Mochipet’s new Epic Glitch’d Out Bass Crunk Anthem, Master P on Atari, released earlier this spring. It combines elements of ethnic Chinese instruments mixed with Street ready Bass Heavy Hip-Hop thrown into a Nintendo 8-bit blender ripped on slow-mo. The beasts are low and chunky and the gongs are bassy and sexy. This release also features remixes by some of glitch and bass’ finest: VibeSquad, Ana Sia, An-ten-nae, and Mimosa, as well as a re-treatments by Mexico’s own Nortec Collective (Clorofila) and Six Degrees Record’s own David Starfire. The combination of styles and cultures are unprecedented, but flows along beautifully to make a surprisingly coherent release. Look for a special Godzilla vs. Mochipet video out soon by the visual media hacker team Savage Henry.
