Just went you though #Twerk was done… Mochipet puts the nail on the Coffin with #Twerkcore. From Mr. Pet himself “I Made this Remix when “Diplo feat. Nicky Da B – Express Yourself” first came out earlier this year because I thought it really need a Gabber Kick in the song. But then the whole Twerk Phenomenon went out of control growing into Doritos, Jimmy Kimmel, and Mylie Cyrus so I thought the world didn’t really need anymore Express Yourself. Well, turns out I was wrong, because I’ve been playing this at my gigs and people seem to really love the Gabber Kick and Twerk Combination. So after many requests, I decided to put it on my Soundcloud. So here you have it! Enjoy The Twerkcore. As always, Free Download!!”

Just had a really good gig in Minneapolis where I got to play at First Ave. (Home of Prince and Purple Rain!). Then yesterday got to hang out at 710cup with the Grassroots Family. Have a break before Ruga’s Wedding Tomorrow in Denver so I wanted to send you a a New Little Remix I did for my friend DJ Sol Rising and Legendary Bay Area Rapper Rasco of the Cali Agents. Mochipet & The Bangerz Make New Track For The Jabbawockeez Prism Show!

Mochipet collaborated with The Bangerz for the track titled Mothership on the new Jabbawockeez PRiSM Soundtrack! For those who are not familiar, Jabbawockeez is an eight-member, all male, hip-hop dance crew best known for being the winners of the first season of America’s Best Dance Crew. They were initially formed by members Kevin “KB” Brewer, Phil “Swagger Boy” Tayag, & Joe “Punkee” Larot under the name “3 Muskee”. By 2004, their members included Ben “B-Tek” Chung, Chris “Cristyle” Gatdula, Rynan “Kid Rainen” Paguio, and Jeff “Phi” Nguyen. Tony “Transformer” Tran joined the crew in 2013. The Jabbawockeez do not have a leader of the group; choreography for their performances as well as music and design choices are made as a collective unit!

“Rawr Means I Love You” the long awaited Mochipet album is finally here, and it is quite a journey. In traditional Mochipet fashion the album runs the gamout from Electro to Disco to Dubstep to Dancehall and everything not in between! In a world of one-hit singles Mochipet wanted to create something different: “I wanted to create a very eclectic album as I usually do but this time I wanted ever song to have a cohesive link to each other, I wanted it to take you through a journey as you listened through the album.” And quite the journey it is, songs like “Beast” and “Whomp-a-saurus Sex” showcases the staple Mochipet styles of heavy bass and dense drumkits but “Swimming in the Seas of Galaxies” and “Space Between Time” are more melody based and show a more introspective side of David’s repritoire. Songs like “Dionysys Synthony” and “Black Hole Sunrise” even have a cinematic feel, incorpoarting multi-part harmonies more commonly used in Jazz and Classical Music. As with any Mochipet album there is a strong Hip-Hop influence. “Spark” which features a cameo from ex-Def Jux’s member MrLif, to be released later, takes you back to a time when lo-fi samples and found sounds we’re the creative dominance over over-hyped drum machines and Swag. Through out the Time Travels and Black Hole Sunrises the album offers a path of encouragement in today’s declining economy and end of the world landscapes, as a journey outward may indeed be just a journey inward. Or as the Speak and Spell like voice on the title track suggests: “Life, I know it’s rough but just because the world is messed up does not mean you have to be too.”

Earlier this year, I was playing a show in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and someone decided to steal my laptop out of my backpack at the venue. I was of course in disarray, well because someone jacked my laptop! but more importantly, I was in the middle of tour and had to complete many more shows before I was able to head home. With help from my friend Eric, we spent hours to navigate our way through the Mardi Gras madness to go to the Apple Store, many miles away, so I could buy a new laptop that was not what I needed, but could work, charged it on my credit card with money I didn’ t have at the time, so I could return it after tour was over. Shortly after I posted about my stolen laptop on my social media, I was sure it was gone but just in-case there was any chance it might have been seen; I know it was a long shot. But more importantly, I was worried the thief could go on stealing more laptops from other artists without anyone being aware of the situation. Not expecting much, I posted some tracks to start a laptop fund and help spread awareness about the situation. To my surprise, donations started coming in at a substantial rate. Not only did my fans donate to my fund but they also helped spread awareness of the situation! I was able to raise enough to get a new laptop when I got off tour. I am very grateful for this, not only because I was able to replace the laptop that was stolen from me, but because people actually took time out and resources to help me in my time of need. To this I will always be grateful, and I promised that once my next album was finished I would send it to them free of charge before it is released to the public! =)

I have learned a lot about insurance and tracking systems for keeping your laptop going to the wrong hands when your on tour. If you would like more info on this you can read my post here.
